Routes backup power to 4 critical circuits
October 23, 2019
My kit arrived promptly with complete installation instructions. The online video shows installation to be simple on a small garage panel, so that even a DIY guy can handle it. My panel is much larger and stuffed with wires and breakers. I was glad to have an electrician do the work. Even when mounted directly next to the panel, I still needed to buy some extra wire at the hardware store that had to be spliced in to reach the desired circuits.
This kit is especially useful if your critical circuits or appliances are not accessible to be powered directly from a Yeti. For me, it is also essential to power a gas furnace, since the furnace requires a grounded power supply as provided through a household circuit. Note, a Yeti is not grounded, and the furnace will not operate when directly connected to a Yeti, but does operate on Yeti power supplied through the transfer switch into its circuit.
So far in testing, the integration kit works as designed, while I await the next California blackout.
- Versatile to power up to 4 hardwired circuits.
- Can power otherwise inaccessible appliances.
- Good way to route limited backup power to your home.
- Easy manual operation.
- May need extra wire for installation.
Best UsesA way to provide grounded power when needed.
Power an appliance through its circuit when a direct connection is inaccessible or inconvenient to reach (eg. built-in refrigerator, attic furnace).
Power a lighting circuit.
