With the new release of the Inergy Apex Solar Generator, we thought it would be a perfect time to offer a side by side comparison to the classic Goal Zero Yeti 1400. Today we will review the key features, uses, and benefits of each system. Our goal is to help consumers make an educated decision in choosing which Solar Generator best fits their needs.

Inverter:

The Inverter is a piece of equipment that converts DC power to AC power. This important component should be sized and spec’d accordingly with your output power requirements.

Goal Zero Yeti 1400:

Battery:

The battery is an important component of any Solar Generator. All of the power being produced by the generator is stored here before being output to your devices and appliances.

Lithium NMC, 1100 Watt Hours (90 Amp Hours, 12.6 Volts) 550 Watts Discharge Continuous for 2 Hours.
Life Cycle: Up to 2,000 Cycles to 80% Capacity
Shelf Life: Up to 10 years - charge every 6 months, stored at 68°F (20°C).
Management System: Over-charge protection, over-discharge protection, short circuit protection, thermal protection, battery balancing.

Recharge Capabilities:

The ability to recharge at a consistent rate whether by Solar or AC power is crucial. During the day, this will equate to more overall power at your disposal and will dictate the rate at which the unit is recharged after being depleted.

We will briefly review the most common Solar Panel options for these two units as well.

Goal Zero Yeti 1400:

In-Built PWM Charge Controller: 16-30V, up to 30A (360 Watts Max).

Offers Expansion MPPT Charge Controller (Sold Separately): 15-22V (360 Watts Max) – Can be stacked with PWM charge Controller for max input of 720 Watts.

Recharges in 4.5 Hours at Max Input (360 Watts) and 2.25 Hours at Max Input (720 Watts) with MPPT Charge Controller

Features WiFi connectivity, simply connect a mobile app enabled Yeti through your WiFi router and control it remotely using the new Goal Zero Yeti App.

You can turn ports ON or OFF, check battery levels, even update the Yeti’s firmware.

The Goal Zero Integration Kit is a great add on item that allows the user to control up to 4 Hardwired circuits in your home directly from the Generator. The perfect add on item for outages.

The newly released Goal Zero Yeti Tanks are expansion sealed lead acid batteries that connect directly to your Goal Zero Power Packs. Perfect for the stationary home integrated system!

Inergy Apex:

The Inergy Apex includes a very special output port designed for connecting to RV shore power. This makes the Apex the perfect RV and Mobile Home Companion.

External Battery Bank Connection: Battery posts for use with connecting external batteries. The ability to add Lead Acid, AGM, Gel Cell or Inergy Lithium 12 Volt batteries is very unique and a fantastic addition by Inergy.
