Due to high demand for these FD, I had to wait two months to receive my FD. Even the fed-ex driver said he sees at least one or more Harvest Rights FD everyday.
Anyways, it arrived in perfect shape and after 24 hours I did a bread run without any complications. Immediately afterwards I freeze dried a flat of strawberries and a bunch of bananas. It worked perfectly.

How well does it work for Meat (4-8 lb Roasts, Hamburger, Chicken, Steaks, Bacon, Sausage) I am moving and do not have storage for my freezers so thought we would freeze dry. Also can Raw meats be freeze dried or do they need prepared first?

You can Freeze Dry all of the meats listed above however lean meat is always better and will last longer. Those that are very high in fat like bacon and sausage will not last that long and are not the best for food storage purposes. Those will also likely take a little longer to freeze dry. You can also Freeze Dry raw meats but since those also tend to have more moisture and fat it can take longer and won't stay as fresh. Thank you for you inquiry!

Does the freeze dryer have a solar option in case the elec grid is down?

The Freeze Dryers operate off of 110 V power. You could power the unit using a Solar Generator, however, you would require a rather large system to handle the power requirements of the Freeze Dryer. Thank you for your inquiry!

What kind of clean up is necessary inside the dryer? Is there any residue on the areas where liquid accumulates?

We recommend regular care taken like you would with any appliance. If there is a spill that needs to cleaned, then it should be wiped up. If you aren't going to use your freeze dryer for a few days, then it is good to make sure it is all dry inside. Thank you for your inquiry!
