When I received my freeze dryer from Earthtech the carton was damaged in shipment by FedEx. I opened t in the presence of the driver and damage to the side panel was immediately noted. The FedEx driver issued me a damage claim number. Upon closer investigation I found the tray holder had tilted about 15 degrees. I immediately called and emailed Earthtech Products. Earthtech Products really does have your back. I sent them pictures and they reviewed them. Their conclusion was that the tray folder probably shifted during shipment and shold not pose a problem. At the time I did not know that the tray holder can come completely out as it is not a fixed part it only slides into place and can be removed for cleaning. I had the option to send the unit back or they would send me a new side panel to replace the damaged one. I decided to set the unit up and check to see it would work properly, which it did. All through this process their support team was there to assist me. Great Company to purchase from. I never felt that is was left out in the cold. I have a perfectly working unit with a replacement side panel on it way. Thank You EarthTech.

What the difference in the oil free pump and the premier.

The Premier Pump needs some maintenance and oil changes after 30 or more batches and has a decibel level of 52. The Oil Free Pumps are quiet, fast and require no oil changes or user maintenance. Thank you for your inquiry!

The Small Pro Freeze Dryer uses a standard 110V outlet. At peak, the freeze dryer draws about 15 amps, but on average about 9 to 11 amps (990-1210 watts) per hour. A dedicated 20 amp circuit is recommended. Thank you for your inquiry!

What is the shelf life of freeze dried meat vacuumed sealed in a mylar bag?

It is typically about 10-12 years for meat, or things higher in fat. We also recommend adding an oxygen absorber; adding an oxygen absorber will actually mean there is no need to "vacuum seal". Thank you for your inquiry!

In an emergency situation, room temperature water can be used to successfully re-hydrate the food. The amount of water and time needed will be nearly identical when re-hydrating. The average shelf life for "snack" food (food being stored in a container that is often opened and closed) is typically around 2 months or so. Once the food starts to become soft, it will be getting close to the end of its shelf life. Thank you for the inquiry!
