I have, over the last 2 years, purchased several colors and shapes of these solar lanterns. My first order I admit that I had my doubts. Here in northern Colorado we get fierce winds, Summer storms. But these lanterns have held up wonderfully! I purchased a couple of brackets at the hardware store to put 2-3 on my back fence, and the others hang in trees in the back yard. I admit that my first trial failed because I neglected to move the switch in the underside of the top of the lantern to "ON"! Has been working perfectly since (> 1yr)! Neighbors have commented that they enjoy seeing the colored light at night when they sit on their back porches. I certainly do! Especially in Winter when all the plants are bare. I recommend these highly. They also make wonderful - and not ridiculously expensive - gifts.
ProsMine have lasted outside over a year now thru all our Colorado seasons and weather. Love the choice of patterns, shapes and colors. Quite wonderful.
ConsNone. Tho I suppose some day the solar light might give out.... As noted, I have had several outside for over a year now, so they DO last a long time!
Best UsesHanging from a fence, trees, a back/front porch... the colors are not garish so look quite wonderful after dark. And each cut-out pattern has its own beauty. It is very windy here sometimes, so I use a twist-tie to secure the wire hanger to the bracket holding it on the fence. Haven't lost one yet! I suppose they might even work in a sunny window, tho I have not tried that. They really are quite beautiful.

I love these lanterns!
I have several of these in orange, yellow, red, and green. Theyve lasted now for at least three summers in the brutal NM sun and still look so pretty glowing at night in my yard. I purchased the blue one this time to send as a gift. It'll live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where it won't get as much sun, but the recipient says it lights beautifully when hung in a carefully chosen spot. I'll be buying more, as mine finally succumb to age and the sun's effects.
ProsExtremely durable. Pretty in the daytime, so lovely at night, scattered among the trees in my small back yard.
ConsCan't think of any.

These solar lanterns are the best. They shine bright and the batteries last for a fairly long time. I hang them from a large oak tree in the yard and they look good.
ProsLong lasting battery and made sturdy enough to resist some significant winds.

can it also be used as a table top lantern?
Typically, this fixture is designed to be hung . However, you could use it as a table top lantern, but I would just keep in mind that this fixture does have a rounded bottom which may not allow it to stand up straight on your table. Thank you for your inquiry!

How do you change the battery in the solar latern?
The Soji LED Solar Lanterns battery can be changed quite easily. You simply unhook the two frame rods, which allows you to fold the lantern into itself. Then remove the 3 screws on the lamp top. Once you remove the lamp top you will have access to the batteries. Simply remove the old batteries and replace with new rechargeable batteries. Thank you for your inquiry!
