We purchased this to provide light in an area that was going to cost quite a bit to get electrical to the location. I fell in love with this light from the pictures and I was not disappointed. It is well built, installed easily and actually worked the first night installed with only about 3 hours before dusk. I was really hesitant to move to solar I have had bad experiences in the past with failures where the bulbs burned out quickly, didn't work out of the box or would not take enough charge to stay on more than a couple of hours. This was a leap of faith for me but for $300 versus $3000 to pull electrical I didn't have to think long. So far I am impressed and pleased with the light's performance.

Must this lamp be set in concrete, or may it be placed over a rod or pipe driven into the ground?

The description says that the battery will not charge without direct sunlight. Is that true? I need a solar light that will charge in mixed lighting conditions.

Solar fixtures require Direct Sunlight in order to recharge properly. If the area of install does not have access to direct sunlight then solar power may not be the best option. Thank you for your inquiry!
